pondering the universe

I have no recently developed film so I’m taking an opportunity during this lull to explain the top header picture, which the full version is presented below. It was taken at Chicago’s Navy Pier on Lake Michigan and it represents my photographic approach of carefully observing the image before taking the picture. In fact, this is how this picture was captured for while this gentleman was probably pondering the wonders of the universe, I was considering how to capture his contemplation.

I’m also using the lull to refine this blog and this post, once released, could be “ground-breaking” after my numerous unsuccessful attempts to create blog posts using an Apple iPad. More about that later. :)

WARNING: Digital photography can be dangerous to your health! Not only do you end up spending the kid’s college fund to finance the equipment and computers necessary to outrun "obsolescence" but "frequent use of" creates a culture of immediacy that interferes with creativity. I know, I've been there. I'm James Tolbert Jr., I’m an ex-digital junkie...this is my story. I can't trust my creativity, time, and passion chasing pixels so I only use one camera (Ricoh GRv); one lens; and “one” online presence. By the way, I use film.
